IT official caught accepting bribe in Odisha

An in Odisha was arrested after he was allegedly caught accepting a bribe from a petrol pump owner to not reopen an assessment matter, officials here said today.

was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in yesterday night.

Searches at his residence today led to Rs 2 lakh in cash and property documents being recovered, officials said.

Behera, who is in police custody, will be produced before the court for placing him in custody, they said.

It is alleged that the demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe from a petrol pump owner in district for not reopening his tax assessment issue, they said.

After verifying details of the complaint, the laid a trap and arrested Behera while he was receiving Rs 40,000 of the Rs 50,000 bribe last night, they said.
