Italian apprehended with satellite phone at Delhi airport

An Italian man was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the IGI airport here today for allegedly carrying an unauthorised satellite phone, a senior official said.

L D Giorgi, who had a Italian passport, was apprehended by CISF personnel after the satellite phone was detected in his baggage. He was bound for Amsterdam, he said.

The man was handed over to the Delhi Police, as carrying a satellite phone is against the law. Only defence and other authorised personnel are allowed to posses the communication gadget, the official said.

Yesterday, a South Korean national was apprehended at this airport for the same offence.
