J&K colleges to go cashless soon

Press Trust of India Jammu
Jammu and Kashmir government today said all state-run colleges will soon go cashless and digital learning programmes will be introduced for students in the campuses to facilitate the digital transaction project.

"(The move) will provide a single unified credential for all transactions and privileges across the campus besides ensuring seamless and cashless business with greater efficiency and accuracy," Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Asgar Hassan Samoon said at a review meeting here.

Samoon said the government was in the process of finalising a tie-up with cellular operators in the state for providing seamless Wi-fi services in the campuses.

To achieve success in the project, he asked officers to form a panel of computer professors, who will be given "orientation courses" by experts to further computer literacy in the colleges.
