J&K Govt grants VSA to 47,174 people in 2012

"Upto ending October this year, 47,174 beneficiaries were covered under VSA who have been provided about Rs 22 crores as allowance," Director Labour and Employment, Dr Abdul Rasheed said while addressing a gathering here.
He said that under J&K Self-employment Scheme, 7,084 cases have been sponsored, out of which disbursement to the tune of Rs 52.40 crore was made in 1,841 cases.
Rasheed said that as many as 1,648 income generating units have been set up, for which the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) has provided an assistance of Rs 55.47 crore as seed capital fund to the entrepreneurs.
The state minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather, who was also present during the occasion, underscored the need for coordinated efforts to give push forward to various self-employment schemes in vogue in the state to provide economically viable and technically feasible job avenues to the unemployed youth.
