J-K govt mulling pension for registered construction workers

This was stated by Minister for Labour and Employment Abdul Gani Malik at the function organised by J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) here yesterday.

On this occasion, the minister distributed financial assistance of Rs 45 lakh among 399 registered construction workers of Srinagar district.

Malik said awareness programmes on schemes provided under JKBOCWWB should be organised across the state so that the people are acquainted with their benefits.

Giving details of the activities of JKBOCWWB, Malik said till date, 1.40 lakh construction workers have been registered while Rs 200 crore have been collected as cess by the Board.

 

He said Rs 17 crore have been disbursed among children of construction workers as scholarship, while Rs one lakh each has been provided as financial assistance to families of 50 construction workers who died after registration.

Similarly, Rs 2.50 lakh have been expended as 'Marriage Money' of registered construction workers.
