J-K govt seeks Assembly panel suggestion on Temples' bill

Jammu and Kashmir government today asked MLAs of the select committee of state Assembly to come up with their suggestions in the next meeting on the bill for preservation of Hindu shrines and religious places.

A meeting of the select committee on 'The Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious Places (Management and Regulation) Bill, 2009' of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah.

The minister directed Assembly Secretariat to circulate the minutes of the meeting among the committee members enabling them to come up with suggestions in the next meeting scheduled on February 7 so that the bill could be given a final shape, an official spokesman said here.
 

Threadbare discussion was held on the proposed Bill.

Committee members Chaman Lal Gupta, Mustafa Kamal, Harsh Dev Singh, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, M Y Tarigami and Ashwani Kumar Sharma gave their suggestions regarding the Bill.
