Militants attacked the ancestral residence of Kulgam MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami in the south Kashmir district late evening today but no one was hurt in the incident.
Gunmen opened fire at Tarigami's residence at Taragam village in Kulgam district at around 9 pm, officials said.
The CPI(M) MLA, who had visited the village in the afternoon, had left for his Srinagar residence when the attack took place.

Police officers rushed to the spot following the attack. Further details were awaited.
