J-K school girl slips into stream, dies

An 11-year-old girl died today after she slipped into a stream while on her way to school in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Tabasum Gulzar, a sixth standard student, slipped into the stream at Wudar Bala in Handwara area this morning, police said.

The girl was washed away by strong water currents caused by heavy rainfall across Kashmir since yesterday, the police said.

The body was fished out and handed over to her family for last rites, the police added.
