The release date of "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit", which was scheduled to hit theatres this Christmas, has been postponed to January next year.

Paramount and Skydance Productions are pushing back the Kenneth Branagh directed film to the Martin Luther King Jr holiday on January 17, an increasingly lucrative movie-going weekend, the Hollywood Reporter said.

The film stars Chris Pine, who will play the iconic character created by the late Tom Clancy.

There's still no official word on whether Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" will instead open over the Christmas corridor.

Based on former broker Jordan Belfort's best-selling memoir, the movie also stars Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, Cristin Milioti, PJ Byrne and Ethan Suplee.

Terence Winter adapted the screenplay, which chronicles Belfort's dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street, his hard-partying lifestyle, which included drug and alcohol addiction and his tumultuous personal life.
