"Southpaw" star Jake Gyllenhaal says as a child he once wrote a letter to a fast-food chain after they took his favorite item off the menu.

Gyllenhaal, 34, said when he found out that his favourite item at KFC, Chicken Littles, had been taken off the menu, he wrote a letter to bring it back, reported Entertainmnet Tonight.

"I don't know if you remember: Kentucky Fried Chicken, when I was a kid, they had these things, (Chicken Littles)... like little hamburgers, but they were fried little chicken nuggets...

"They discontinued them, and in school, we were told to learn how to write a complaint letter, right? So I wrote a complaint letter to Kentucky Fried Chicken telling them (to bring them back)," he said.

After nearly 20 years off the menu, the Chicken Littles, now served with pickles and mayo, returned.

When Gyllenhaal was informed by a reporter of the news, he smiled and said, "I think I indirectly had something to do with that!"

Gyllenhaal will be next seen in the drama "Demolition" along with Naomi Watts.
