Jamia registrar awarded President's Police Medal

Jamia Millia Islamia University Registrar A P Siddiqui today received the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

The award was announced on the 68th Republic Day last year.

Siddiqui, a 1991 batch IPS officer, received the medal and a citation signed by then president Pranab Mukherjee, a release issued by the university said.

He has been the registrar of the prestigious institution since October last.

"Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is proud to have such a decorated and competent officer as its registrar. The university is benefiting from his vast experience as an administrator," JMI Vice Chancellor Talat Ahmad said.

Siddiqui is also a recipient of the President's Police Medal for meritorious services in 2008.
 

"Before moving to JMI, Siddiqui was Additional Director General of Police (Headquarter) in Himachal Pradesh. He has a wide exposure in key capacities in government as also teaching experience in the law faculty," the statement said.

Siddiqui was part of the United Nation's Mission in Kosovo in 2001.
