Condemning Maharashtra minister Mahadev Jankar's remarks, NCP chief Sharad Pawar today said the comments made at the Bhagwangadh event are "advertently uncivilized and unreasonable" and appealed to party workers to ignore the matter and maintain peace.
In a series of tweets, Pawar said, "The comments made at Bhagwangadh event are advertently uncivilized and unreasonable."
"The comments are in deviation with the oath taken by Ministers to follow the code of conduct with integrity and commitment to the state," another tweet said.
"The perpetrator is part of state government and Baramati has nothing to do with the event," said the Maratha strongman.
"The matter is certainly outrageous and disrespectful. I hereby appeal to party workers to ignore the matter and maintain peace," the NCP supremo added.
Earlier in the day, NCP, in a statement issued in Mumbai had said Jankar "spoke ill" and used "derogatory" words for Leader of Opposition (in Legislative Council) Dhananjay Munde and Ajit Pawar in the rally at Bhagwangad hill shrine in Ahmednagar district in which Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister and BJP leader Pankaja Munde was the main speaker.
NCP workers held protests against Jankar in various districts of Maharashtra.
In Mumbai, effigies of the minister was burnt and slogans shouted against him outside the suburban Santacruz station.
