Jeera futures slide 0.45% on higher supply

Jeera prices fell by 0.45 per cent to Rs 16,420 per quintal in futures trading today as traders cut down their bets amid adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions in the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in far-month July declined by Rs 75 or 0.45 per cent to Rs 16,420 per quintal with an open interest of 8,745 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in June contracts traded lower by Rs 65 or 0.40 per cent to Rs 16,280 per quintal in 11,877 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of ample stocks on increased arrivals from producing belts in the physical market against subdued demand mainly led to the fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
