Jessie T Usher may cast as lead in 'Shaft' reboot

"Independence Day" actor Jessie T Usher is in negotiations to star in "Shaft" reboot, "Son of Shaft".

"Ride Along 2" director Tim Story is helming the new film from Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow's script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story will apparently revolve around Usher's character, who is the son of John Shaft.

Samuel L Jackson is also in talks to return for the new film.

Usher was most recently seen in the reboot "Independence Day: Resurgence", where he played the son of Will Smith's character.
