The sessions court here today rejected the bail application of businesswoman and model Vihari Seth who was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence a month ago at the International Airport here for allegedly smuggling jewellery worth Rs 2.45 crore.

Seth had arrived in Mumbai from Singapore on July 30 and was arrested when she crossed the 'green channel' without declaring the goods. She had allegedly hidden the jewellery in her undergarments.

DRI lawyer Ashok Gupte argued Seth's conduct at the airport indicated that she had no intention to declare the dutiable goods.

Further, he said, Seth belonged to an influential family and may hamper the investigation.
