Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today expressed happiness that the state is marching in tandem with the nation in its 'Vikas Yatra'.
"I feel elated that in the country's 'vikas yatra', Jharkhand is also marching in tandem, contributing an important role in the development," Das said after unfurling the Tricolour at the historic Morahbadi ground here.
Das said he wondered why development had remained absent in Jharkhand despite having resources in abundance and realised that it was because of some deficiency in policy and nature of work.
"The government then brought about a change in policies and put people's participation at the focal point between power and governance," he said.
The 'revolutionary' move of "Yozana Banao Abhiyan" to approach the people to know their concept of schemes put the state in a new direction, the Chief Minister said.
For the first time, he said, agriculture budget sought to make farmers self-sufficient and the gender budget ensured women's participation in the development process.
"All credit goes to the people of the state as they gave important suggestions before the budget," Das said.
With the setting up of the local policy, people of Jharkhand would get their right and their participation would be ensured in the development work.

The government's priority is agriculture, irrigation, health, education, electricity, drinking water and cleanliness, Das said.
Stating that the government took various initiatives for developing irrigation system and one of them was digging 1,89,000 small ponds, he said a total 9.198 lakh hectare land have become arable.
The government introduced Agriculture Single Window System so that farmers get information at one place.
On industrial front, Das said, changes in rules and the Single Widow System has expedited up industrial activity.
Jharkhand has also become the first state to set up Corporate Social Responsibility Council. There was Rs 379.59 crore under CSR fund in 2014/15 and it jumped to Rs 916.23 crore in 2015., he said.
The chief minister said water will be supplied through pipes to 50 per cent of rural population by 2020.
On tourism, he said facilities were made and that there was a significant growth in tourists from both inland and abroad.
Tokisud-Palu area in Ramgarh district was chosen for a film city and intellectuals, media and film makers appreciated it, the Chief Minister said.
He said migration has been a problem and the government was working at different levels for its solution.
Das said 33 per cent reservation has been made in the police department.
