A senior official of a private power firm has been arrested for allegedly molesting his junior woman colleague at the company's office in Chhattisagarh's Raigarh district, the police said today.

"Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) of Jindal Power Limited Shashikant Prasad was arrested last night from Kirodimal Chowk here," Station House Officer (SHO), Tamnar police station, SN Singh said.

Prasad was produced in a local court today, which sent him to judicial remand, he said.

"Prasad and JPL Vice President (HR) Ravishankar Singh were booked on July 13 this year under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 A (punishment for sexual harassment) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC on the basis of a complaint lodged against them by the 25-year-old woman employee, who is Prasad's subordinate," the SHO said.

In her complaint, she alleged that Prasad had touchedher inappropriately and sought sexual favours from her in the office of the firm located in Tamnar town.

"The woman stated that she complained about the incident to Ravishankar Singh, who, instead of taking any action against the accused allegedly molested her," the officer said.

Ravishankar Singh had secured anticipatory bail from a local court earlier this month.

The state women commission in a letter had asked the police to take immediate action in this case.
