JK official caught taking bribe

A state government official was today caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 500 at his office in Ganderbal district.

Vigilance officials laid a trap around the officer, a senior assistant in the Office of Assistant Director (Employment), after receiving a complaint that he had demanded money for release of subsidy amount of Rs 26,000 against a loan of Rs 3 lakh, an official spokesperson said.

The official has been taken into custody for further investigation, he added.
