The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today lashed out at the Centre for its "total failure" to deal with situation on borders with Pakistan.

In a meeting chaired by JKPCC president G A Mir, the senior leaders of the party observed two minutes silence for the Army personnel who were yesterday killed in a Pakistani shelling along the LoC in Rajouri district of the state.

"The meeting expressed grave concern over the border situation leading to heavy casualties during recent years in continued shelling from across the borders, a party spokesman said.

The National Panthers Party (NPP) also staged an anti- Pakistan protest to condemn yesterday's incident.

The continued ceasefire violations and escalated tension on borders is cause of great concern and reflective of the "failure" of Narendra Modi led government which had been claiming isolation of Pakistan internationally, Mir said.

"The heightened tension and increased shelling has created almost a war like situation on the IB and the LoC with Pakistan," he said and asked the centre to take more effective measures to control the prevailing situation and to prevent the loss of precious lives of the jawans and civilians.
