Joe Anderson replaces Michael Pitt's role in 'Hannibal'

Actor Michael Pitt, who has played the role of a sociopath meat-packing magnate Mason Venger' in 'Hannibal 2', has been replaced by Joe Anderson in the next season.

Anderson, 32, has confirmed his casting by posting a picture of him in his Mason Verger makeup on Instagram.

Pitt, 33, who is known for his role in Bernardo Bertolucci's 'The Dreamers' and as Jimmy Darmody on HBO's series 'Boardwalk Empire', exited the show but the reason is still very unclear, reported Ace Showbiz.

The show's third season will also introduce a new character named Cordell, Mason's personal doctor who is 'quiet, very intelligent and definitely creepy'.
 

The new season is set to air in 2015.
