Joshua Jackson to star in 'The Affair'

'Dawson's Creek' star Joshua Jackson is joining the cast of TV series 'The Affair'.

The 35-year-old actor will be joined by 'The Wire' star Dominic West, as well as Maura Tierney and Ruth Wilson in the Showtime drama, reported E! online.

Jackson will play a tough cowboy named Cole, who owns and runs a ranch in Long Island, in the series.

Jackson recently starred in 'Fringe', an acclaimed sci-fi drama in which he played the part of Peter Bishop. The show, which was created by Star Trek and Star Wars director JJ Abrams, ended nearly a year ago in September 2012.
 

He also recently starred in features 'Lay the Favorite' and 'Inescapable'.
