Journalists welfare fund may be raised to Rs 10 cr

Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said the government would consider raising the corpus fund of the Journalists Welfare Fund to Rs 10 crores from existing Rs 2 crores.

The minister in a statement, released at the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists Working Committee meeting here today, said the government is also mulling to issue health cards and other facilities to journalists, at par with state government employees.

He said the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy will be set up soon, as per the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Bill, 2014.
