The judicial custody of 18 undertrial prisoners, who have not been chargesheeted, was extended till April 7 by a local court here today.
The hearing of the prisoners was for the first time done through video conference connecting the district court and the district jail here.
Chief judicial magistrate of the court Narender Kumar confirmed that the provisions for video-conferencing has been completed.

Jailer Nagender Singh said the undertrial prisoners, who have not been chargesheeted, would not be produced in court and their cases would be heard through video conference, so as to reduce the burden of police security in court.
The move has come after the murder of an alleged gangster Vicky Tyagi in the court. The accused, who claims to be a juvnile, had entered the court room and shot Tyagi.
The accused, who is in judicial custody till March 30, and has not been chargesheeted, would also be heard via video conferencing, sources said.
Meanwhile, Allahabad High Court has taken serious view on the security in the court complex in Muzaffarnagar and asked the district judge of Muzaffarnagar to provide details of incidents in its premises from 2010 to March 2015.
