A fire broke out this evening in New grain market area here, turning the jute bags worth lakh of rupees into ashes, police said.
Six fire tenders have been sent at the site but the fire could not be controlled so far, the official said adding senior police officials have rushed the market.
A large quantity of jute bags were stored in a shed here as the wheat procurement season has to start from April 1.
The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, he said.
