The mortal remains of Uttar Pradesh Panchayti Raj Minister Kailash Yadav were consigned to flames on the banks of the Ganga at his native Jaitpura village here today.
The body was brought here by air and placed at the ancestral home for people to pay their last respects, a day after he breathed his last at a private hospital in Gurgaon.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, state ministers Shivpal Singh Yadav, Azam Khan, Ram Govind Chaudhary and Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey, among others, paid floral tributes to Yadav.

In Kailash Yadav's death the Samajwadi Party has lost a dedicated leader, especially a representative of the eastern region of the state, Akhilesh said.
The chief minister also met the bereaved family and offered his condolences.
