Kannada study chair to be established in foreign varsities

In order to encourage Kannada study in foreign universities, a Kannada study chair would be established in Wurzburg, Vienna, Heidelberg and Munich Universities, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said today.

"More number of Kannada learning centres will be established both outside the state and outside the country", Siddaramaiah, also the state Finance Minister, said in the Congress government's "revised" 2013-14 budget in the Legislative Assembly.

An international-level 'Kuvempu Kala Bhavan' would be constructed here in memory of Rashtrakavi K V Puttappa, while a grant of Rs 3.5 crore would be provided to Konkani language and culture foundation for all round development of Konkani culture and language.
 

An international-standard museum at a cost of Rs 25 crore will be established at Roerich Tataguni Estate.
