Kanwarias attack cops, SI hurt

Infuriated over police's refusal to allow them to play loud music at a temple, Kanwarias today torched vehicles, blocked vehicular traffic and hurled bricks at police injuring a sub-inspector in Pratapgarh district.

Kanwarias (devotees of Lord Shiva) sought permission to play DJ at a temple at Jogapur in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district, officials said.

When police did not allow them to play DJ, they turned violent attacking cops injuring a sub-inspector.

The Kanwarias also blocked traffic, the officials said.
