Kerala to form Forward Class Commission

The Congress-led UDF government in Kerala today decided to form a Forward Class Commission as a permanent statutory body.

This was informed by Chief Minister Ommen Chandy after a cabinet meeting.

He said the Law Department would be asked to work out the details regarding the composition and powers of the proposed commission.

According to officials, the body is meant for advising the government on issues like possible support for education of the economically weaker sections among the forward communities.
