Six personnel of a police station, where a 30-year old man was shot dead allegedly by a sub-inspector in self-defence, were transferred as the body of the victim was buried after a peaceful funeral today.
Amid widespread condemnation of the killing of Syed Mohammed, District Superintendent of Police N M Mayil Vahanan transferred a sub-inspector, three head constables and two Youth Brigade personnel of S P Pattinam station to the Armed Police wing, the police said.
Mohammed's body was buried this evening after a peaceful funeral in which local MLA M H Jawahirullah was among the participants.

Jawahirullah demanded a compensation of Rs ten lakh for the next of kin of Mohammed, who was shot dead allegedly by SI A Kalidoss on October 14 after being taken to the police station on a complaint of extorting money from the public. The SI allegedly opened fire after Mohammed stabbed him, the police said.
Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had yesterday announced a solatium of Rs five lakh for the family of Mohammed.
CB-CID DSP Manmathapandian has begun investigation into the incident and taken custody of the case diary.
Judicial Magistrate-II of Ramanathapuram was also holding a simultaneous inquiry into the incident.
