The famous Konark Dance Festival with the majestic Sun Temple as a backdrop will kick off on December one, official sources said today.
Coinciding with the annual five-day event, the International Sand Art Festival is also slated to be held at Chandrabhaga beach at Konark.
The annual festival is one of the biggest dance festivals in the country, bringing champions of different classical and traditional dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Odissi, Mohiniyattam and Kathak.
This year 10 national and international acclaimed artistes/groups from Raipur, Chennai, Kerala, Manipur, Hyderabad and Kolkata have confirmed their participation at the festival, the sources said.
The list includes Sadanam Balakrishnan, Aloka Kanungo, Singhjit Singh, Alekhya Punjala, Anitha Guha, Rani Karnaa and Ileana Citaristi.
