: Eminent Konkani writer Gratian Pius D'Souza, popularly known as Herolpius, will be presented the 15th Konkani Kutam Award 2016, instituted by the 'Konkani Kutam' in Bahrain.
The award committee local convener Richard Moras told reporters here today that the award was in recognition of his contribution to the field of Konkani literature.
He said the award consisted of a cash prize of Rs 50,000, citation and memento.
The award ceremony would be held on September 23 in Bahrain.
D'Souza, who had served as an officer for Ministry of Home Affairs for 37 years, had written 197 short stories, 225 poems, 329 articles and five serial articles in Konkani.
Hehad written and directed a drama and five one act plays inKonkani and had acted the leading role in a play.
'Dhon Thembe Dukhan' (Two drops of tears), one of his works, had won the Goa Konkani Bhasha Mandal award.
