The second unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant in this district has been shut down for fine tuning of its diesel generator, officials said Friday.
The functioning of the 1000 MWe unit was stopped Thursday and the work would be completed in a week, they said.
Already, the unit I of the Indo-Russian joint venture project has been shut down for maintenance and refuelling for the past 25 days, an official said.
The second unit had resumed operations on July 22 after being shut for maintenance for nearly five months.
It began commercial operations on March 31 last year.
