A 43-year-old labourer was beaten to death with sticks by irate villagers for allegedly raping a minor girl in Nizamabad district of Telangana, the police said today.
Sayanna entered the girl's house in Donkeshwar village when she was alone last evening. He allegedly raped her and fled, they said.
The girl narrated the incident to her mother. Later, the family and the villagers caught hold of Sayanna and beat him up with sticks injuring him, an official told PTI.
The villagers then took him to a nearby hospital, where he died last night, the official said.
Two cases were registered under relevant sections of the IPC in connection with the sexual assault on the minor girl and the killing of the man.
