Lankan Navy chief arrives in Pakistan

During the week-long trip undertaken at the invitation of Pakistan Navy chief Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, Colombage will visit all major naval establishments in Karachi and hold discussion with his counterpart for "future collaboration between the two friendly navies", said an official statement.

This is Colombage's first visit abroad after taking over command of the Sri Lankan Navy in September.He will also visit the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar in Karachi.

"The visit of the Sri Lanka Navy Commander is of immense importance, especially after the war is over in Sri Lanka and there is a requirement to build on relations of strategic value between the two friendly countries in the new and developing regional environment," the statement said.

 

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have "comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration" for their three services.

"In future too, both the brotherly countries are expected to work more closely in the field of defence to boost peace efforts in the region," the statement said.
