A day after Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal described the issue of funds for development of Amritsar as BJP's internal matter, party MP Navjot Singh Sidhu said leaders must also learn to own up discredits.
"Our respected leaders who aspire for credits must also learn to gracefully own up discredits," he told reporters here.
"Before describing the issue of development of Amritsar as BJP's internal matter, Sukhbir should have glanced at some facts," the cricketer-turned-politician said.
"If you personally rush to Amritsar to inaugurate each development project, if your name is inscribed on foundation stones of Amritsar development works, including accomplished and non-accomplished, then how come it is an internal matter of the BJP?" Sidhu asked.
"I am always ready to come to you and discuss projects relating to Amritsar... But, ironically you tend to ignore me on each issue of Amritsar.
"May I know why I was ignored when the state government announced projects worth Rs 2,000 crore for Amritsar last week?" the MP asked.
"Ask your Deputy Commissioner why I am not invited to monthly meetings of the district planning committee? Why I am not allowed to deliver speech when you invite PM to Amritsar on important occasions?" Sidhu asked.
Yesterday, the Deputy Chief Minister said in Jalandhar that maximum grants had been released for development works in Amritsar.
