Left threatens big stir if Mahakuma Parishad notification is

Siliguri Mayor and CPI(M) leader Asok Bhattacharya today said the left front would launch a big movement if no notification was issued for forming board to the three-tier Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad 20 days after announcement of result.

Pointing out the results showed a decisive edge of the left front over ruling Trinamool Congress in all the tiers, Bhattacharya alleged the notification was deliberately delayed to enable the TMC take unfair means for coming to power at the SMP.

He said if the notification was not issued in another two days time, Left will launch a big movement in the town and other adjoining places of north Bengal for "restoration of democracy."
 

The left parties today submitted a memorandum to the district administration in this effect.

Meanwhile, ridiculing the left demand, TMC Working President Nantu Pal said the party had nothing to do with it and the ball was in the State Election Commission's court.

He further described the way of functioning of Bhattacharya as 'autocratic.
