Left wing extremism to be discussed in police conference

Left wing extremism, law and order and crime against women and child would be discussed among other topics at a two-day senior police officers' conference to start here tomorrow.

While DGP Sanjeev Marik is slated to inaugurate the conference, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would attend the valedictory session on Thursday, the police said.

All district SPs, armed police commandants, range IGs and DIGs, IPS officers under training, senior officers of various establishments like home guards, fire, vigilance and prison would participate in the annual conference, which was earlier known as IPS officers' conference.

The police said the participants would discuss on Left wing extremism, law and order, crime with focus on crime against women and child, improving quality of investigation, prosecution, Human Rights related issues, community policing and grievance redressal measures.
 

The conference would also discuss on how to handle the emerging challenges before the police.
