The carcass of a two-year-old leopard was found in Aamagarh forest in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh, an official said.
"The mutilated carcass was found in Nanhi Kanhar forest circle Tuesday evening. It looks like it died about five days ago," Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Gaurav Choudhary said.
No evidence suggesting that the animal was killed by poachers was found at the spot, he said.
The viscera of the leopard was sent for examination and after getting the laboratory report, the exact cause of death would be ascertained, the DFO said.
