A leopard was ran over by a speeding truck on National Highway 37 in the district today evening, police said.
The adult male leopard came under the wheels of the speeding truck and succumbed to injuries on the spot while it was crossing the highway at Charianga under Pulibor Police Station, they said.
Forest department personnel have gone to the spot to collect the leopard's body for postmortem, police said, adding that they were looking for the truck driver, who flee after the accident.
Incidentally, the leopard was creating panic in Chalikhowa and Azangaon area of the district for the past few days.
