A leopard today entered an area in the Sathyamangalam Forest Reserve, seized and mauled a goat, forest officials said.
The incident happened in the Puliamkombai tribal settlement area, officials said.
A villager had seen the leopard pouncing on the goat around 2 am and taking it away.

The villagers found the pugmarks of the leopard and the carcass of the goat later, officials said.
Villagers complained that five goats were mauled by a leopard last month.
Forest officials assured them that steps would be taken to prevent such incidents.
