A leopard that had recently mauled an eight-year-old girl to death, was caught in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat, forest officials said today.
The animal had mauled one Jigna Gohil to death on May 15 while she was playing outside her relative's house in Sankhada village in Una tehsil, Rambhai J More, Range Forest Officer (RFO) told PTI today.
We came to know about the incident from Jigna's family, he said.

Following this, forest department officials had placed cages around the area from where the girl was dragged by the leopard.
"We were successful in catching the leopard yesterday," More said.
According to the officer, the leopard will now be sent to Sakkarbag zoo at Junagadh.
He said a compensation of Rs 2.25 lakh will be given to Jigna's family.
