LGC in Kerala reconstituted

CPI(M)-led LDF government in Kerala today decided to reconstitute the Local Government Commissionunder the Local Self Administration department.

A decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here, an official release said.

The period of the Commission would be for three years.

The cabinet also ratified the appointment of C P Vinod as Chairman of the Commission.

Providing recommendation to local self administration for implementing the second phase of People's Planning Programme and setting up 'knowledge hub' in civic bodies would be among the main agendas of the Commission.

The Local Self Administrating Department Principal Secretary would be the Member-Secretary of the Commission, the release added.
 

The Commission was constituted to guide institutionalisation process of decentralisation in the state.
