Lightning claims 15 lives in Bihar

Fifteen people were killed today when lightning struck them during heavy rains in Bihar's Rohtas, Aurangabad, Nawada and Sheikhpura districts, officials said.

Four persons, including two girls, were fatally struck by lightning in Rajabigha village, while another person died in a similar incident in Vishunpur village in Aurangabad district, they said.

Three children, aged between 12 and 13, died after a lightning struck a tree under which they had taken refuge to save themselves from heavy rains in Redia village in Rohtas district, Block Development Officer S K Jaiswal said.

A 40-year-old man was fatally struck by lightning at Lewra village in Rohtas district, he said.
 

Three persons each in Nawada and Sheikhpura districts died in similar cases, officials said.
