Liquor mafia attack excise officials, two constables injured

Two constables have been injured when liquor mafia allegedly attacked a raiding team of Excise department in Nand Gram colony in the city, police said today.

The incident took place last night when, on specific information, Excise Inspector Akhilesh Kumar and his team raided a hide out under Sihani gate police station area to seize illicit liquor.

About 15-20 henchmen of the bootlegger attacked the team, injuring two constables Subin Kumar and Jagesh Kumar, and managed to escape from the spot, SHO Upendra Yadav said.

Following complaint by the Excise Inspector an FIR was registered against 15-20 unknown assailants, and efforts are on to nab them, he said.
