Live by teachings in Gita for peace, happiness: Jaya

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today extended her greetings on the eve of Krishna Janmashtami and said following the teachings in Bhagavad Gita would usher in peace and happiness.

If people lived by the teachings in Gita that stressed on treating joy and sorrow equally and surrendering to the God among others, "peace and happiness will flourish in the world," she said in a statement here.

She recalled how the festival marking the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated with fervour.

Krishna Jayanthi (Janmashtami) is being celebrated tomorrow.
