Victory of PCC chief Sukhdeo Bhagat in the Lohardaga (ST) Assembly bypoll, where he defeated ruling NDA's candidate, has re-instated people's support, Congress said today.

"The people have come back to support the Congress. The Lohardaga win will make the BJP government to analyse its performance," PCC general secretary Alok Dubey said.

Bhagat, who had won the 2005 Assembly elections before losing subsequent two polls, won the bypoll defeating NDA candidate Niru Shanti Bhagat (Ajsu party) by 23,228 votes.

When Bhagat takes oath in the House as a member, the strength of the Congress would increase to seven.

After losing the Lohardaga seat, the Ajsu party has four MLAs now.
