: A lorry driver was electrocuted and the cleaner injured when the vehicle came in contact with a live electric wire at nearby Periya Agraharam village, police said.
They said the firewood laden lorry was on its way to a textile dyeing unit here from Thanjavur when it touched a live wire across the road
The driver died on the spot, while the cleaner was admitted to the Government Headquarters Hospital here.
Police said the firewood in the lorry started burning and the vehicle was gutted within half an hour. Fire service personnel from the city and Bhavani rushed to spot and doused the flames.
