Two lovers, who got married after running away from their homes just a couple of days ago, today committed suicide at Bhoa village, about 20 km from here, allegedly by consuming poison as their parents were against their marriage.
In their purported sucide note, however, they mentioned, they were responsible for taking their lives and their parents should not be held responsible.
Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Joon Chak village, of Gurdaspur district, was a bank employee and was in love with Manjit Kaur who resides in Malik Chak village, police said.
However, their parents did not approve of their relationship after which they ran away from their homes and got married at a religous place on Sunday, police said.
