Lieutenant General Philip Campose, who took over the reins of the Western Command on July 1, today called on Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh Shivraj V Patil, Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
The newly appointed Army Commander discussed issues of mutual interest pertaining to Punjab and Haryana respectively during his visit, an official release said here.
He highlighted the need for enhancing resettlement opportunities for retiring army personnel.

Issues regarding training of youth for recruitment as officers in the Indian Army and assistance for disaster relief were also discussed.
Lieutenant General Philip Campose will meet Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on July 11.
He has succeeded Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra who has been shifted as army commander of the Northern command.
