Madhur Bhandarkar nominated as member of society of 'SRFTI'

National award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar has been nominated as member of the society of Kolkata-based 'Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute' (SRFTI) by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Bhandarkar, who is currently shooting his next "Indu Sarkar" received the official letter from SRFTI, Kolkata, a media release issued here said.

The institute, named after Ray, who has given memorable movies like "Aparajito", "Charulata", "Apur Sansar", offers post-graduate programmes in cinematic studies.

"I hope to take forward the legacy of the institute with whatever contribution that I can make as a member", said Bhandarkar.

The 48-year-old helmer has received three National awards for his movies like "Chandni Bar", "Page 3" and "Traffic Signal".
 

He was also honoured with the 4th highest civilian award 'Padma Shri' for his contribution to Hindi cinema.
